The baby was born on March 29, 1985, in Roswell located in the state of New Mexico. Gerina Michel Mendoza was her name at birth. Gerina Stevenson is the daughter of Mexican parentage Rita Stevenson (mother) and Alan Stevenson (father). The mother of two is a Mexican by blood but an American citizenship. Her desire to play sports was born as a toddler. Gerina played golf for the first time at the age of 15. Gerina attended Goddard High School. She was the winner of her place in the New Mexico State Golf Tournament during her time in high school. The volleyball abilities of her were acknowledged at the national stage. In the year 2003 she enrolled at the University of Texas. In her final year, she took home every single tournament she entered. In her undergraduate years, she was awarded as the conference's best player of season and UTEP's Female Athletic of the Year.
